Do you admire the beautiful quilting motifs in the background of award winning quilts? Have you always wanted to be able to do that. Well here is where you can begin to add that beautiful stitching to make your quilt extra special. This is a beginner’s class for quilters who want to learn how to free motion quilt.
In this class you will learn the basics of free motion quilting on your domestic machine. You will be able to practice at your own pace. You will learn how one stitch can be used to develop several designs. We will use paper and pencil exercises to develop your muscle memory. At the end of the session, you will have several small practice pieces to take with you. Free motion quilting requires lots of practice so if you are ready, let's get started.
Supplies Needed
Sewing machine
Sewing machine manual
Darning or free motion foot for your particular machine
4-5 quilt sandwiches, spray basted, no pins, solid colors, at least 12x12”
Contrasting thread
Inexpensive sketch pad at least 9-12 (can be found at Dollar Tree for $1.25)
Pencil and ruler
Extra sewing machine needles
Gloves designed for free motion
Scissors
Tweezers (optional)
Must know how to drop feed dogs on your machine.
If you are traveling from out of town AQF will furnish you a machine.
