About the event

The Atlanta Quilt Festival is pleased to premier its inaugural Marva Swanson Lecture Series. Marva Swanson was a co-founder of the Atlanta Quilt Festival who tirelessly promoted quilt education. It is in her spirit that we offer a series of lectures during the Festival in 2024.

Renowned Quilt Artist Dawn Williams Boyd kicks off the lecture series with her lecture entitled “From the Atlanta Quilt Festival to the Met: One Artist’s Journey”. During her one hour presentation Dawn will discuss her meteoric rise from an unknown newcomer on the Atlanta art scene to the public collections of major art institutions in Atlanta, Birmingham, Columbus, Montgomery, New York City and Syracuse plus numerous private collections in the U.S. and abroad.

We are proud that Dawn is a ribbon winner at the Atlanta Quilt Festival and we celebrate her success. A reception follows questions and answers. There will be time to view the 2024 juried exhibit and the "Getting Into MY Good Trouble" exhibit before the venue closes at 5 p.m.

Seating is limited. Get your ticket early. Meanwhile, visit Dawn's web site dawnwilliamsboyd.com to view her amazing cloth paintings.
