Quilter Cate Munch captures the mood of many of us these days with her quilt “World Weary”. Her 12x12 inch quilt features a portrait  of someone who is clearly world weary. Cate uses raw edge applique to create the facial features and then uses a machine stitch to hole the applique in place. A decorative free motion stitch creates the illusion of hair and straight line quilting adds depth and definition in the face.

The fabric on the back is a solid cream fabric. Cate added a label on the back to document the quilt.

This art quilt was created and donated to the Atlanta Quilt Festival by quilter Cate Munch who lives in Aptos CA. If we are lucky, we may see more of Cate’s work at the Atlanta Quilt Festival which happens each August.
