Quilter Marva Swanson showcases her collection of African fabrics in this 12x12 inch art quilt, but the mask in the center of the quilt takes the spotlight with her beaded eyes. The quilt is pieced randomly. Marva quilted in the ditch so as to allow the fabrics to speak for the quilt. She added metallic stitching and beads to add interest to the quilt.
The fabric on the back is a light brown paisley fabric. Marva signed it on the back.
This art quilt was created and donated to the Atlanta Quilt Festival by African American quilter Marva Swanson who lives in Atlanta, GA. Visit the Atlanta Quilt Festival each August to see more of her quilts.
